Ingredients

For the dip
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Full fat tastes best
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce Store bought is totally fine
  • 1 pinch salt To keep it from tasting flat
  • 1 tsp vanilla Optional
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon Optional for fall flavor
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts Optional toppings, like pecans
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips Optional toppings
  • 1/4 cup toffee bits Optional toppings
  • 3 medium apples for dipping Granny Smith for tang, or Honeycrisp for sweetness

Method

Preparation
  1. Beat the softened cream cheese in a bowl until it looks smooth and fluffy.
  2. Spread it into a shallow dish or a small serving plate.
  3. Warm the caramel sauce for about 10 to 15 seconds so it pours easily, then drizzle it all over the top.
  4. Sprinkle on your toppings if you are using them, such as chopped pecans and a tiny pinch of flaky salt.

Notes

This dip can be made ahead by preparing the cream cheese layer up to 24 hours in advance. Keep apples from turning brown by slicing just before serving or tossing them in a mix of water and lemon juice.
