Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish well.
- Peel and chop the apples into small bite-sized pieces.
- Open the cinnamon rolls and cut each one into quarters.
- Spread the cinnamon roll pieces evenly in the baking dish and sprinkle the apples over the top.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or half and half, cinnamon, vanilla (if using), and salt.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls and apples, pressing down gently to help them soak up the mixture.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the mixture generously.
Baking
- Bake for about 30 to 40 minutes until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
- Cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then drizzle the icing that came with the cinnamon rolls and add another drizzle of caramel if desired.
Notes
For a more balanced flavor, consider serving with salty sides like bacon or coffee. Also, you can use biscuit dough or crescent roll dough as alternatives to cinnamon roll dough.
