  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith) Choose firm apples for better texture.
  • 1 tube cinnamon roll dough (with icing included) Use the refrigerated kind.
  • 3 large eggs Holds everything together.
  • 3/4 cup milk or half and half Half and half for richness.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adds warmth and flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional for added aroma.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances flavors.
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce Store-bought, thicker ice cream type.
  • 1 tablespoon butter For greasing the baking dish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish well.
  2. Peel and chop the apples into small bite-sized pieces.
  3. Open the cinnamon rolls and cut each one into quarters.
  4. Spread the cinnamon roll pieces evenly in the baking dish and sprinkle the apples over the top.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or half and half, cinnamon, vanilla (if using), and salt.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls and apples, pressing down gently to help them soak up the mixture.
  7. Drizzle caramel sauce over the mixture generously.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 30 to 40 minutes until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  2. Cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then drizzle the icing that came with the cinnamon rolls and add another drizzle of caramel if desired.

Notes

For a more balanced flavor, consider serving with salty sides like bacon or coffee. Also, you can use biscuit dough or crescent roll dough as alternatives to cinnamon roll dough.
