Baking Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Place a baking dish in the oven with the butter.
- While the butter is melting, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add the buttermilk to the flour mixture and stir until you form a sticky, shaggy dough. Avoid overmixing.
- Carefully take out the hot dish from the oven and tilt it to coat the bottom with melted butter.
- Spoon the dough into the dish on top of the melted butter and spread it out to the corners.
- Use a butter knife to cut the dough into 9 squares.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and edges are crispy.
- Let the biscuits cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
Notes
These biscuits are best served warm. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature, 4 days in the fridge, or freeze for 2 months.
