Ingredients

Tea and Base Ingredients
  • 6 to 8 bags black tea bags Family size bags work too
  • 6 cups water, divided 4 cups for brewing tea, 2 cups for peach syrup
Peach Syrup Ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe peaches, pitted and sliced Skin on is fine
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Light or dark, as preferred
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice Helps the peach flavor pop
  • 1 pinch salt A tiny amount to make sweetness taste cleaner
  • as needed cups Ice Lots of it for serving
  • optional fresh mint, peach slices For serving

Method

Brew the Tea
  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Turn off the heat, add your tea bags, and let them steep for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bags and pour the tea into a pitcher.
Make the Peach Syrup
  1. In a pot, add sliced peaches, 2 cups of water, brown sugar, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer and stir occasionally, cooking for about 12 to 15 minutes until peaches are soft and liquid is syrupy.
Strain the Syrup
  1. Pour the peach mixture through a strainer into a bowl.
  2. Press the peaches gently with a spoon to extract the syrup, avoiding too much pulp.
  3. Allow the syrup to cool slightly.
Combine and Chill
  1. Pour the peach syrup into the pitcher with brewed tea and stir well.
  2. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more lemon juice or brown sugar as needed.
  3. Chill the mixture in the fridge until cold, then serve over a tall glass of ice.

Notes

For less dilution, freeze tea in an ice tray and use those cubes. If preferred, the tea can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
