Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream the softened butter with both sugars until fluffy, about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add the room temperature egg and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing just until no flour streaks remain.
- Gently fold in the blueberries, taking care not to smash them.
- Scoop the dough into large mounds (about 2 tablespoons each) and space them on the baking sheet.
- Sprinkle coarse sugar on top if desired.
Baking
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the edges are set and lightly golden, and the centers look soft.
- Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a rack to cool completely.
Notes
Do not overbake; the cookies continue to cook while cooling. Chill the dough for 20 to 30 minutes if your kitchen is warm to prevent excessive spreading.
