Preparation
- Bake the cake in a 9x13 pan using your favorite chocolate cake mix and the ingredients listed on the box.
- Let it cool for about 10 minutes, then poke holes all over the top using the handle of a wooden spoon.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cake, aiming for the holes.
- Warm the caramel sauce slightly in the microwave, then drizzle it all over the top.
- Cool the cake completely, then spread the whipped topping over it.
- Finish with toffee bits or crushed candy on top.
- Chill for at least 4 hours, overnight is even better for flavor.
Notes
Store any leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 to 5 days. The dessert improves the next day after chilling.
