  • 1 box Chocolate cake mix Plus the eggs, oil, and water required by the box
  • 1 can Sweetened condensed milk For soaking the cake
  • 1 cup Caramel sauce Store bought is fine
  • 1 container Whipped topping Like Cool Whip or homemade whipped cream
  • 1 cup Toffee bits or chopped chocolate bars Heath style works great

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bake the cake in a 9x13 pan using your favorite chocolate cake mix and the ingredients listed on the box.
  2. Let it cool for about 10 minutes, then poke holes all over the top using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  3. Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cake, aiming for the holes.
  4. Warm the caramel sauce slightly in the microwave, then drizzle it all over the top.
  5. Cool the cake completely, then spread the whipped topping over it.
  6. Finish with toffee bits or crushed candy on top.
  7. Chill for at least 4 hours, overnight is even better for flavor.

Notes

Store any leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 to 5 days. The dessert improves the next day after chilling.
