  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef to reduce grease.
  • 4 slices bacon Cook until crisp and crumble.
  • 1 cup Bisquick mix Can be substituted with a homemade baking mix.
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk is preferred for richness.
  • 3 large eggs Large eggs for binding.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Sharp cheddar works best for flavor.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped Sauté until soft.
Toppings
  • 1 cup pickles, chopped or sliced For serving.
  • to taste ketchup and mustard For serving.
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce Optional, for serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add the chopped onions to the beef and sauté until soft.
  4. Crumble the cooked bacon into the beef mixture, and stir to combine.
Batter and Assemble
  1. In a bowl, whisk together Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs until smooth.
  2. Pour the beef mixture into a greased 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Pour the batter over the meat mixture, ensuring it's evenly covered.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the center is set.
  2. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Feel free to customize toppings according to your preference. To avoid a soggy crust, drain any excess moisture from the filling and let rest before slicing.
