Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 package refrigerated or frozen tortellini Cheese-filled is classic, but meat works too.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil spray Lightly spray to help the crumbs stick.
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs For extra crunch.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese Freshly grated is preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder For flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika For a hint of spice.
  • 1 large egg Helps the coating stick.
Dipping Sauces
  • marinara
  • pesto
  • ranch dressing
  • spicy aioli
  • warm Alfredo sauce Optional.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the tortellini if needed: Boil for 2-3 minutes for frozen tortellini, or 1-2 minutes for refrigerated tortellini, until they float.
  2. Drain the tortellini and pat dry with paper towels to ensure the coating sticks.
  3. In a bowl, beat the egg. In another bowl, mix the panko, Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Toss the tortellini in the egg, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the basket and the coated tortellini.
  2. Arrange the tortellini in a single layer and cook for 6 to 9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  3. Once golden and crunchy, remove from the air fryer.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

For best results, do not crowd the basket. Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch. If needed, reheat in the air fryer to restore crispiness.
