Hawaiian grilled cheese is a brain bursting recipe made with pineapple, Canadian bacon and jack cheese, bread, canadian bacon and other ingredients
If you are a lover of pineapple on pizza, then Hawaiian grilled cheese is for you. I can boldly say that this recipe is the best grilled cheese i have ever tasted, the pineapple in the recipe made it extra fantastic. I prepared this recipe at my place of work and since then, I have been preparing this recipe package for four of my colleagues at work because they fell in love with this recipe with just their first bite.
I am 100% a fan of Hawaiian grilled cheese, it makes me 100% alive for the day, infact, it is one of the reasons why I prepare this recipe in the morning, as it makes my day awesome. I absolutely love the combination of juicy sweet pineapple and salty ham bound together with melted cheese on a crispy crust. The most loveliest part of this recipe is that it is flexible which means that you can be creative with how you prepare it.
I have the opportunity to use these flavors in a phenomenal grilled cheese sandwich that I simply can’t resist! You can add tomatoes for more acidity and sweetness to the grilled cheese sandwich. Also, baking the sliced pineapple and tomato helps reduce some of the wetness. This fantastic Hawaiian grilled cheese sandwich is inspired by the flavors of Hawaiian pizza. This recipe has more character than your standard grilled cheese, and it is way more easy to make.
Ingredients
4 slices bread
3 slices pineapple, fresh or canned
3 slices canadian bacon
½ cup Monterey Jack cheese, grated
2 tbsp butter, softened to room temperature
Oregano and parsley
How to prepare
Step 1:
Butter one side of each slice of bread and sprinkle with parsley and oregano to taste. On the non buttered side of bread place the shredded cheese, then the canadian bacon, pineapple, and top with the other slice of bread, buttered side facing up.
Step 2:
Cook the sandwich on the stove top on a griddle or frying pan. Once bread is toasted on one side, flip the sandwich to toast the other side. Allow to cook on a low heat to allow the cheese to melt while the bread is toasting.
Step 3:
Remove from the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes. Serve and enjoy!
Tips and variation
You can use Havarti cheese in these pineapple and ham grilled cheese sandwiches.
If you find it difficult to slice thinly, you can slice it thicker if needed and just arrange the thicker slices on your bread to cover the surface
You can also get your sliced Havarti or fontina cheese, it’s much easier buying a sliced Havarti or fontina cheese than slicing it thinly yourself.
