Ingredients

  • 1 pound 1 (450g) breakfast sausage

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 (30g) all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups 2 (480ml) whole milk

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 pound 1 (450g) pizza dough

  • 1 1/2 cups 1 1/2 (170g) shredded Colby Jack cheese

  • 4 large 4 eggs

  • Fresh chives or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a pizza stone or an inverted baking sheet in the oven to heat.
  • In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium-high heat, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks, until it’s browned and cooked through. Remove excess grease if necessary.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine, cooking for about a minute to remove the raw flour taste.
  • Gradually add the whole milk, stirring constantly, and cook until the mixture thickens and becomes a creamy gravy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
  • Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a round shape or the desired shape you prefer.
  • Carefully transfer the pizza dough to a piece of parchment paper.
  • Spread the sausage gravy evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle shredded Colby Jack cheese over the sausage gravy.
  • Carefully transfer the pizza (with the parchment paper) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the pizza crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • While the pizza is baking, cook the eggs sunny-side up or over easy in a separate pan.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  • Top the pizza with the cooked eggs and garnish with fresh chives or parsley if desired.
  • Slice your Cheesy Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza and savor the morning indulgence!
