Pepperoni Pizza Grilled Cheese

Pepperoni Pizza Grilled Cheese is stuffed with mozzarella, pepperoni sandwiched between two pieces of buttery garlic toast. Itโ€™s a fun twist on a classic.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Sara Leeยฎ Bread. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
Grilled cheese sandwiches are a staple at our house, especially during winter and spring. They are so quick and easy to make! Weโ€™re always making them to go along with soup, or serving them with baked beans and fresh fruit.

Since April is National Grilled Cheese Month (April 12th is National Grilled Cheese Day) I thought it would be fun to share a tasty twist on a classic. This version tastes just like pepperoni pizza stuffed between garlic bread and wow is it goodโ€”a family favorite!

I used two slices of thick, soft Sara LeeยฎArtesanoโ„ข Bread โ€“ itโ€™s the ORIGINAL artisan-style sliced bread. It happens to be free of high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors and colors which is always a bonus in this momโ€™s book.

We love using it for French toast too! Itโ€™s also available in Golden Wheat, which includes a touch of honey, olive oil and sea salt!

Ingredients:

4 slices of your favorite bread
4 slices of vegan cheese (or more if you like it extra cheesy!)
8 slices of vegan pepperoni
2 tbsp vegan butter or margarine
2 tbsp pizza sauce
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

Prepare Bread:

Spread a thin layer of vegan butter on one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried basil on the buttered side for added flavor.

Assemble Sandwich:

On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, spread pizza sauce. Layer with vegan cheese slices and vegan pepperoni. Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side out.

Cook Sandwich:

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side. Press down slightly with a spatula to ensure even cooking.

Serve:

Slice the sandwiches in half and serve hot. Enjoy the melty, pizza-flavored goodness
