Ingredients

  • For the Chocolate Cake:
  • 1 cup 1 (200g) granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup 3/4 (95g) all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 salt

  • 2 large 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 (120ml) whole milk

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 (60ml) vegetable oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 (120ml) boiling water

  • For the Chocolate Ganache:
  • 1 cup 1 (175g) dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 (120ml) heavy cream

  • 1 tablespoon 1 unsalted butter

Directions

  • For the Chocolate Cake:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  • Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin, but that’s perfectly fine.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For the Chocolate Ganache:
  • Place the dark chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate) in a heatproof bowl.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream and unsalted butter over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove it from the heat immediately.
  • Pour the hot cream mixture over the dark chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gently stir the chocolate and cream together until smooth and glossy.
  • To Assemble:
  • Once the cake is completely cooled, pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  • Let the ganache set for a few minutes before slicing and serving your indulgent Fudge Chocolate Cake. Enjoy!
